We at Dirty Kanza believe in the power of bikes. So this year, we are launching a High School Gravel Race to encourage kids across the nation to give (gravel) cycling a try. Registration opens on February 1 and proceeds from this event will go to the DK Youth Cycling Fund – a 501c3 established with the Emporia Community Foundation. Big names like GU Energy, Chamois Butt’r, CamelBak, and NICA are stepping up to help us make this event top notch for the next generation of gravel grinders.
Families can also enjoy the All Things Gravel Expo and the short film “Singletrack High” on Friday. NICA President Austin McInerny will be joining in on weekend festivities as well – it’s a great way to kick off high school cycling in the midwest! Saturday will be race day and finish line celebrations along with awards for the High School class. Sunday is the grand awards ceremony and winners will be recognized there as well – it’s gonna be a blast!
Want to donate? Until we are fully established, we need those the old fashion way – a check to DK Youth Cycling Fund mailed to 11 W. 8th, Emporia KS 66801 is the way to go. Your donation is fully deductible – and appreciated.
