The 2019 Garmin Dirty Kanza Schedule of Events is filling up. Pedaling Minds is joining, the All Things Gravel Expo is gonna be epic, and the GU/Salsa Spin Out Ride Friday morning will be a great way to loosen up a bit before Saturday. We’ve also lined out two GREAT forums on Friday – so make sure to take note!
Friday, May 31 10:30-12:30 – Women Ride the World Women’s Forum
Join us for year number 3 with a new format and some very exciting guests! Our #200Women200Miles Campaign is growing up and we hope to see this new version serve as a great support network for women looking to get out on the bike. We will share some news on that at the forum (you can get yourself signed up right now at womenridetheworld.net). Lael WIlcox will be joining us as our keynote speaker. She is one of the top female ultra-endurance cyclist in the world, notably winning the 4,300 mile Trans Am Bike Race in 2016 and setting the record for the 2,750 mile Tour Divide in 2015. Lael didn’t begin cycling until she was 20 years old. She has spent the past twelve years traveling around the world on her bicycle, logging over 100,000 miles in 35 countries. In addition to racing and riding, Lael puts a lot of effort into getting more women on bikes. She organizes a teenage girls bicycle adventure program in her hometown and has hosted two international women’s scholarships.
After Lael’s talk, we will break out into round table discussions, lead by some of the most encouraging women in the business:
Equity and Equality hosted by Sam Scipio
Effective training hosted by Amy Charity and Hillary Allen
Bike Set Up hosted by Laura Haraldson
Nutrition on & off the bike hosted by Bridgette Travis
Making a community hosted by Crystal Kovacs
Women in the industry hosted by Laura King
Please RSVP here – we hope you join us!
Friday, May 31 1:30-2:30 – Tech Talk
We are lucky to have a great tech talk scheduled for Friday afternoon – with the focus on the two things that truly keep us moving on the gravel – our wheels! Sponsors ENVE, Orange Seal, and Maxxis will be taking the stage to bring you updates on all things wheels and tires and sealant. Bring your notepads and your questions – because what they have to say can make a big difference in your days out there on the gravel – not just at Dirty Kanza, but at gravel events around the world.
