The Annual Palooza Fundraiser for the Emporia Farmers Market is being planned for the 2016 Dirty Kanza event. Market volunteers will showcase locally sourced foods and welcome gravel riders to our community on Friday, June 3. The meal will include dishes featuring beef, buffalo and poultry grown right here in the Flint Hills, as well pasta and in-season vegetables direct from the farmers market.
There will be no ticket pre-sales this year. Riders may purchase tickets at the door at a cost of $12 per plate. The ticket will include a one-pass plate with choice of chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes, a grass-fed beef dish to be announced, swiss steak, or creamy herbed pasta. Rolls will be provided by Emporia Subways. The meal will include farmers market salad, a vegetable selection, and homemade desserts such as pie, apple cobbler and cake.
All proceeds from this event benefit the operations and educational programs of the Emporia Farmers Market.
On the day of the race, the Emporia Farmers Market will open at 7:00 am (one hour early) in the parking lot at 7th and Commercial where vendors will have, among usual products, breakfast foods and ready-to-eat snacks and baked goods.
The Emporia Farmers Market is a producer-only market that has been serving Emporia, Kansas and the surrounding area since 1982. All goods sold at the market are grown, crafted or baked by the vendors. The market is a project of The Learning Connection of the Flint Hills, a 501(c)(3) organization.
